South Bend's Flagship Convention Venue
Hosting hundreds of events every year, Century Center features over 75,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, plus a unique outdoor venue at Island Park on the St. Joseph River, within walking distance of over 600 hotel rooms and countless bars, restaurants and attractions. Owned by the City of South Bend, the Century Center is overseen by Visit South Bend Mishawaka. Legends Global manages day-to-day operations of the facility, while Visit South Bend Mishawaka leads convention sales and destination marketing services.
Building Details
The Century Center, designed by architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee, broke construction in 1974 and opened in 1977. The center, built on the banks of the West Race canal, overlooks the St. Joseph River in downtown South Bend, Indiana, United States. It features over 100,000 sq ft of convention space and is home to Island Park, an 11-acre riverfront park attached to the convention center via a cross walk over the West Race canal.
Century Center includes a 25,000 sq ft Convention Hall that can be split into two smaller halls. This level also offers a 12,000 sq ft Discovery Ballroom that can be separated into two equal halls.
Century Center’s 16,000 sq ft Great Hall includes a 30 ft glass wall which overlooks the St. Joseph River. Eighteen meeting rooms with over 35 combinations complement the overall space. A pre-function area is located on the lower level adjacent to the Great Hall.

Legends Global is the Century Center’s exclusive food and beverage provider. Catering and event managers will guide you through menus, pricing, beverage and wine selections.
Our chefs will work with you to create the perfect menu within your budget. We will take care of all the details and you can relax knowing that your event will be seamlessly executed!
The Century Center works with a full-service in-house media company, EventSys, that can accommodate all of your audio/visual needs. From tripods, screens, and projectors to microphones, sound systems, and lighting, EventSys can help you create the perfect A/V set-up for your event.
The Century Center offers free WiFi throughout the facility. Clients are provided with lightning-fast fiber-optic connectivity internet services with speeds up to a gigabit. If faster speeds are needed, ask your event manager for pricing details.
Our preferred vendor for event rentals is Always At Your Service Event Rentals. With over five decades of providing rental items for events, AAYS provides items for catering and dining essentials, drapery and decor, tents, tables and seating, and so much more!
Sustainability
We believe that events should bring people and ideas together! Our events are produced with environmentally conscious practices and we provide education on sustainable practices to clients, contractors, event attendees and staff.
We have also implemented a multi-million dollar renovation plan to continue to reduce energy and maintenance costs, which will produce 1.5 million dollars in energy savings throughout the course of a 15-year program. Renovations include replacing the roof, installing solar panels, updating lighting with LED and high-efficiency lights, and updating the HVAC system. Each year the Century Center donates thousands of pounds of food that is harvested locally by Cultivate Food Rescue. The food is then redistributed through our region.
Legends Global Hospitality shares our pledge to environmental responsibility. Their sustainability practices include a thorough recycling and compost program, purchasing green and compostable products, and providing menus that utilize locally grown produce.
