The Thirty-First Annual Four Freshmen Convention

The Thirty-first Annual Four Freshmen Convention
"Celebrating 70!"

South Bend Indiana

October 18 - 20, 2018

We hope you will join us in South Bend, Indiana, on October 18 thru 20, 2018, for the Four Freshmen Society Convention “Celebrating 70”.  Yes, 2018 is the 70th anniversary of the first Four Freshmen gig at the 113 Club in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.  We’re thrilled to host you “Back Home Again” in Indiana for three exciting days in our great city— home to the prestigious University of Notre Dame and much, much more.  Your experience will begin at the downtown Doubletree Hotel, a lovely full service hotel and meeting venue that will cater to all your needs.   Amenities abound in our new urban designed streets bordered by the lovely walking

trails along the St. Joseph River which winds its way through downtown South Bend and is spectacularly lighted in multiple changing colors at night.  If you fly into South Bend you will be pleased with the service to and from Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, New York/Newark, and Chicago, as well as nonstop flights from Phoenix/Mesa, Fort Myers/Punta Gorda, and Tampa/ St. Petersburg.  South Bend is conveniently located on I 80/90 in the center of the Midwest.  The Doubletree has a prompt, free shuttle service to and from the South Bend International Airport  We are planning tours that will educate, inform, and entertain you:  Your tour of the picturesque campus of the University of Notre Dame will include the newly embellished Knute Rockne Stadium, magnificent Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Grotto, the Golden Dome, “Touchdown Jesus” and the outstanding Snite Museum of Art.  At the Studebaker National Museum,

cruise through a priceless collection of artifacts and vehicles spanning 150 years of Studebaker and South Bend manufacturing history, including the largest collection of Presidential carriages in the world.  Among them is the one taken by Abraham Lincoln on that fateful ride to Ford’s Theatre.  Step back in time as you tour the 38-room Oliver Mansion and The History Museum that showcases local history including the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League whose story was immortalized

in the film A League of Their Own.  Dining and drinking opportunities abound steps from the Doubletree in downtown South Bend, from fine dining to family fare and from popular breweries to sports bars, The South Bend Chocolate Cafe, and an authentic Irish pub.  The new Four Winds Casino, a short drive from downtown, offers adult entertainment, shopping, and dining.   We hope you will make your plans today to join us for the 2018 Four Freshmen Society Convention next October!  Look for further details and registration information in the Fresh News and on line starting in February.  Convention rates for the South Bend Doubletree are available whenever you wish to make reservations.  Find hotel information on page 5.  Celebrate 70 with The Four Freshmen in South Bend, Indiana.
