Code of Conduct

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to ensure all individuals–guests, clients, staff, vendors, and visitors–experience a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment while on Century Center property.

This policy applies to:

  • All attendees and participants at events
  • General public entering public areas of the facility
  • Event organizers and contractors
  • Vendors, performers, and third-party staff
  • Century Center employees and partner agencies

General Conduct Expectations

All individuals on Century Center property must:

  • Comply with all posted policies and instructions from staff, including security and law enforcement.
  • Treat others with respect and courtesy at all times, regardless of background, race, gender, religion, or orientation.
  • Follow all applicable laws and venue regulations including those regarding alcohol, tobacco, and controlled substances.
  • Maintain proper dress and hygiene; clothing must be appropriate for a public setting.
  • Use designated areas only and respect restricted or staff-only access zones.

Prohibited Conduct

The following actions are strictly prohibited and may result in removal from the premises or law enforcement involvement:

  • Verbal or physical harassment, intimidation, or threats toward staff, guests, or vendors
  • Possession of weapons, except by sworn law enforcement personnel (see Weapons Policy)
  • Use of illegal substances or public intoxication
  • Fighting, roughhousing, or disorderly conduct
  • Vandalism, graffiti, or intentional damage to Century Center property
  • Unauthorized commercial activity including vending, solicitation, or flyer distribution
  • Entering restricted areas, including back-of-house spaces, stages, or secured service corridors
  • Bringing prohibited items, including large bags exceeding approved dimensions, fog machines not water-based, drones, or animals (except trained service animals)
  • Creating unsafe conditions, including blocking fire exits or emergency equipment

Event Organizer Responsibilities

  • Event organizers must ensure all attendees are informed of this Code of Conduct before and during the event.
  • Organizers are responsible for managing behavior of their participants and must cooperate with Century Center staff in enforcing policy.

Incident Management

  • Century Center Security or designated personnel will respond to violations.
  • Staff may issue verbal warnings, revoke access credentials, or escort individuals from the property as needed.
  • Criminal or severe safety threats will result in immediate law enforcement involvement.
  • Written incident reports will be field and reviewed following each violation.

Appeals & Bans

  • Individuals removed from the Century Center may submit a written appeal to the General Manager.
  • Repeated or severe violations may result in No Trespass Order from the facility

Training & Enforcement

  • All staff and security will receive annual training on conduct enforcement, de-escalation, and conflict resolution.
  • Enforcement will be fair, consistent, and free of bias or discrimination.

Prohibited Items Policy

To ensure the safety and security of all guests, staff, and event participants, Century Center has established a Prohibited Items Policy. This policy outlines items that are not permitted within the facility under any circumstances, unless explicitly authorized by venue management or law enforcement.

This policy applies to:

  • All visitors, attendees, and exhibitors
  • Event organizers and production crews
  • Vendors and contractors
  • Century Center employees
  • Volunteers and temporary staff

Prohibited Items List

The following items are strictly prohibited inside Century Center unless prior written permission is granted:

  • Firearms, including concealed carry weapons (except sworn law enforcement)
  • Ammunition
  • Explosives, including fireworks or flammable materials
  • Tasers, stun guns, and pepper spray/mace
  • Knives, blades, or other sharp objects (excluding utensils in food service)
  • Illegal drugs or narcotics
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • Alcoholic beverages not distributed by licensed Century Center vendors
  • Marijuana (including medicinal unless approved through prior channels)
  • Air horns or noise-making devices
  • Laser pointers
  • Drones or unmanned aerial devices
  • Skateboards, hoverboards, scooters, or similar wheeled devices (except for ADA needs)
  • Oversized signs, banners, or flags that obstruct views or pose hazards
  • Balloons or confetti (unless pre-approved due to cleaning or fire risk)
  • Backpacks or bags larger than 14″ x 10″ x 6″ (see Backpack & Large Bag Policy)
  • Coolers or containers (unless medically necessary or part of an approved exhibit)
  • Glass containers or breakable items
  • Fog machines that are not water-based
  • Pyrotechnic devices or flame-producing equipment
  • Smoke bombs or gas-dispersing effects
  • Lasers or strobe lighting without prior approval

Screening & Enforcement

  • All guests may be subject to security screening, including walk-through metal detectors, hand wands, and bag checks.
  • Confiscated items will not be returned. Guests refusing screening may be denied entry without refund.
  • Signs will be posted at all entrances listing prohibited items.

Exceptions & Special Considerations

Requests for exemptions due to medical needs, event-related requirements, or accessibility concerns must be submitted in writing to Century Center security or management at least 5 business days before the event.

Emergency & Law Enforcement Coordination

  • Suspicious or prohibited items discovered during screening will be reported to on-site law enforcement.
  • Guests found in possession of dangerous or illegal items may be detained and turned over to authorities.

Communication & Training

  • Policy will be shared with all event organizers during pre-event meetings and included in exhibitor/vendor guidelines.
  • All security and front-line staff will be trained on enforcement procedures and guest communication.
